One sentence all Hair Stylist shutter at....... "I have never been happy with how anyone who did my hair." That one sentence tell is us a multitude of things. Everyone including your stylist has had one or two hair issues happen to them. But when someone tells us "never happy with how ANYONE has done their hair tells us there is something more going on. There are a few things that come to mind in all hair stylist minds of what area you could fall into.
1. You will never look like JLO, Kim Kardashian, Angelina Joli no matter who is doing your hair. You will not have their charmed life after your hair is done. You are you. You are special and you need to realize that. You may like the stars hairstyles but be happy with who you really are. You are unique and beautiful in your way. As the Infamous Dr. Phil has said, "Those girls don't even look like those girls." You are looking at very made up photos that are airbrushed. You also may have a different face structure than the person you admire. You defently don't have the same hair as your favorite star. But what you do have is your beauty. Let the photo you brought into the hairstylist just be a stepping stone in the direction you want to go. Let the stylist use it as a rough draft and let your artist sculp it around your beauty. Remember they broke the mold when you were made. Don't try to become someone elses carbon copy.
2. You may have had something tramtic happen in your life and your way of fixing it or avoiding it is trying to change something on yourself. As wonderful as a haircut and color can be it won't fix any issues in your life. It will not make your bad childhood go away. It cannot make your husband/boyfriend love you more. It cannot fix any emotional or phycological issues you may have. Those issues run deep and a stylist can only touch your surface. The most amazing hairstylist could not fix an emotional or phcological issue. That is in another scope of practice.
3. The big one that we see and is so insulting to everyone in our field. The I will throw a tantrum even if the stylist gave me exactly what I want and asked for and get it free. We see it and we know exactly what these people are doing. We have eyes we can see our work . We know what that person is trying to get away with. You are the ones that figure if you cause a scean we will just want you out of our salon. What is funny is the face of the person that is with this person because they forgot to clue their friend in on the service thieft they are acting out. Yes I said service Theift. Their friend is telling them, "but that is what you asked for it looks beautiful." Then the perpitrator shoots a look in the friends direction and whispers to them. Usually the friend gets a grim look and walks away or plays dumb. Or the Service theif simply writes a check to the stylist and stops payment without any reason. Then when stylist or salon contact client over bad check they say they did not like their hair. That is service theift. The stylist time and products are worth money. This is what they do for a living. The people that do this kind of stuff would be the first to throw a fit if someone treated them like they did the stylist. I was informed by a bank employee on a client that had stopped payment on a service, that she had many stop payments occur on her bank account. They said it is cheaper to pay for a stop payment than it is to pay for the service. The person that does this realizes it cost the salon more money to go after them in court. Another thing is the NSF that are never made good. We all have had our banking issues and totally understand and NSF. But it is when someone ignores the business owners contiued contact that is infurating. NSF can be handled without going to court if you live in Orange County California. We can turn the checks over to the county and have them collect from you. They charge you exorbiant fees for writing an NSF and also send you to check writing school. If you ignore their request they put out a bench warrent for the person. Then we have the Closed accounts. You will go to jail for this. It is fraud. Then we have the ones that say they need to go to their car to get their money and never come back. All of this is service thieft and these people should be arrested for hair service lifting. I know that sounds funny. But this is the stylist living these people are messing with. This is how stylist pay their bills. Instead of working on someone that is going to rip them off for all their hard work they could have worked on someone that would pay them.
